Trip Downtown

Hello!

I just going to do a quick update on my life that I have been procrastinating upon. I have been busy the past week of working at the restaurant for 8hrs+ everyday but I have more time now.

Me and my siblings went to Applebees last month to enjoy a quick lunch. We saw that their burgers are cheaper on Mondays so maybe I go there again some other time.

This is just of the random mall trips I went with my sister. I love earrings and these are cute ones from Claire's. They aren't that expensive but I don't like how they rust and get nasty easily.

At downtown Cle a cold press store opened so we went to try it out.

The place is very nice with various plants as decor.

Even though they have an extensive menu they only have certain juices available each day.

We got ourselves smoothies and they tasted pretty good!

Moving back to campus on the 15th of next month. I'm not ready to deal with finding a practicum and studying hard but it is what it is. Hopefully I get to post more before I leave.

Thought of the day: Don't stop. Continue to fight for what you want in life.

XOXO

Review: Gigi Strip Free Honee Hair Removal System

Hello!

What a lovely day it is! As you know its summer and time to spend more time outside. A common hassle that all girls have is hair removal. I personally have a lot of thick hair. I started to shave when I was in fourth grade. Shaving was easy and painless way to get rid of hair but the hair does grow back quicker and thicker. I've tried to use waxing strips you can find at Target or Marcs but they hurt and weren't effective. They probably pulled more skin than hair. So i decided to get the Gigi Strip Free Honee Hair Removal System waxing kit recommended by a youtuber.

I bought this in-store at Sally's but you can also purchase it at amazon as well. The price on Sally's website is $18.99 which is pretty pricey for wax but cheaper than doing it at a salon.

CONTENTS

The kit comes with a pre-wax cleanser, wax remover, post wax concealer, slow growth, applicators, and the wax. I do use the pre-wax cleanser but I don't know if they makes it difference. The wax remover lotion doesn't work at all. I don't even know why the company used a lotion base rather than oil.  The post wax concealer is pretty much just like a regular concealer. I used it once and I don't like it. The slow growth is suppose to help reduce the growth of the hair at the epilated area.

This is the wax that is included in the kit.  The container had a nice little handle which you can use when taking wax out of the microwave. You're suppose microwave it at interval for 15 sec but its tedious so I just microwave it for about 30 sec intervals. Don't over heat it because then it gets too hot and you might burn yourself. You should heat it until it because a caramel-like consistent. When you put it on be sure to put a good amount so the wax can stick to your hair. Don't over do it though but I feel like it not as effective when you pile it on. The wax can get messy so you should probably do it in your bathroom.

RESULTS

The wax works best on thick hair especially hair in the armpit area. Waxing does hurt but the it's more of a shock. The wax did effectively remove most of my hair on my legs. I like how it doesn't leave the root of the hair like shaving does. My armpit is not much smoother. I definitely recommend this product to any gals with thick hair. If you have thin hair its better to shave or bleach it.

I hope my review was helpful!

Jewelry and Apparel that Support Good Causes

Hello!

So recently I have been noticing on twitter and other forms of social media of shops that will donate to a cause when you buy them. Today I'm going to try to create a list for you and myself. I do have to say these things are quite cute!

Pura Vida

The provide jobs for artisans in Costa Rica similar to the fair trade store I volunteer at. They also donate to many other charities. Free shipping on all orders is a plus. The bracelets range from $3 to $102 and come in variety of colors.

Ivory Ella

Ten percent of their proceeds goes to savetheelephants.org which helps with prevention and education of ivory trade. They have tanks, t-shirts, and long sleeves.

Divinity LA

They donate to different charities based on the bracelets.

Chavez for Charity

They also donate to variety of charities base in the bracelets sold. Chavez for charity has specific collections for women, men and children.

Alex and Ani

While the other shops I listed donate to a charity when their bracelets are sold Alex and Ani have a collection specifically for non-profits so look carefully if you are trying to buy from them. I do personally really like their bangles.

These all look like cute things. I hope when I get the chance to be able to buy these items and support their causes!

XOXO,

Conference Time and Other Things

Hello!

A couple of days ago I had a dream that I was at a convention. I do dream frequently but most of the time I forgot about it by the the next morning. All I could remember about this dream convention was that I was eating at a lunch buffet during break. This leading up to main part of today's post which is the conference I went to today. My sister had already planned to go to this conference and she told me about then registered me to accompany her which was fine with me. The event today is called the 7th Ohio Asian American Health Conference at the Global Center for Health Innovation. The venue is very new and has the modern feel which I liked.

Here is where we waited for the conference to start. Since I had to wake up at 7am and we didn't have time to get starbucks I was a bit tired. Thankfully they provided us with some tea and coffee. My tea tasted very sour then I remembered than I had added a slice of lemon.

The first speaker was Dr. Kwon who talked about her studies researching mostly tobacco usage in NYC with asian american population and talking about the health disparities within different cultures. I liked her outfit choice. She brings up a good point that one solution does not fit all and would like to see more future policy changes.

I wanted to post this picture because of the structure diagram. I had taken an organization behavior course last semester that discussed the three main topics: power, structure, and culture with an org.

They provided our lunches in these cute boxes. After lunch we had the opportunity to explore the center by our selves and they even provided us with maps.

I am obsessed with this picture because I absolutely love interior decor. I appreciate good furniture. Even though i couldn't get a picture of everything the venue really had beautifully structured chairs and even thought the tables were plain the different height brought out the uniqueness of the chair and couches.

This was such a muscular mannequin.

Oh I just loved a good conference room.

I think this is a meeting space or somethings like that. I liked their cute glass decor that is spread all over this area.

The was a town hall meeting afterwards but we couldn't attend due to time. I also got a pedometer from the conference which I'm excited to use!

I don't think I mentioned this before but I started watching Thai dramas since the end of last year. When I like something I start to get a little obsessive with it when instagram doesn't help. In Thailand instagram is big even featuring it in dramas. I follow one of my favorite actresses, Kimberley (Kim) Anne Tiamsiri on it. She is half-Thai and half-German. Kim is very popular in Thai within these recent years. I've watched her dramas and I liked her acting.

I bought a drawing book at the craft store recently and decided to draw her. There's no face nor feet because I can't draw very well.

My favorite disney princess will always be Princess Aurora. I found this black and white printout of her and decided to draw her again. I drew her on an acrylic canvas and plan to paint her.

I found this cute picture of this kitten.

Just a little thought of the day:

It's ok to be upset and it's ok to be disappointed. We all have our bright moments and down ones. The most important thing is to not get into a slump. Be strong and get back on your feet. Always remember that the best is yet to come. If you hang on a bit more I'm sure good things will come to your way.

XOXO

Story: Sacrifice

Hello,

In my free time i like to write bits and pieces of a story I guess. I mainly write to practice my writing so not much plot, beginning, or ending. I wrote this piece thinking about how much people will do for the one the love. Sacrifice is just the part of the deal. You can skip this post if you want since it's all going to be just writing. I think I was started writing this near the beginning of fall last year.

...
He was still holding the rock mid air when he found out what has happened. I let go of his arm. A pool of blood has started to gather around the lifeless body. He didn't mean to but what is done is already done. Once I regained my senses I called the police. I sat on the floor with my head against the wall. He sat beside me. He was expressionless. I put my hand gently on his arm.

“Leave. Leave before the police comes,” I told him.

That finally broke his train of thought. He looked at me incredulously and came to his senses.

“No,” he shook his head.” I can’t do it. I killed him. You didn't.”

I put both of my hands on his face while looking straight in his eyes. He was the person that I loved the most in the world.

“If you stay,” I started to explain.” They will continue investigation this situation and find out about everything. You’ll be kicked out of med school. If I say that I did it, it would only just be murder because of self-defense. I’m not as passionate and as good as you in med school anyway. You’re going to be a great doctor in the future don’t let this hinder you ok?”

He started to get up from the floor. I could hear the sirens in the distance.

“Go, now!” I shouted at him.

He picked up his pace and sprinted out without looking back. I picked up the bloody rock and sat back down on the floor. I waited.

...
That is all. Hope you liked it and have a fabulous day!

Wholefoods Market & Trader Joe's

Hey,

Today we took a trip to Wholefoods and also to Trader Joe's.  While I've been to Trader Joe's multiple times I've never shopped at Wholefoods before. The purpose of the trip was to check out Wholefoods but Trader Joe's was nearby so we went there as well.

I think this little station was called nutter butter. You sort of dispense out different types of nut butter you want. We got the cashew butter and almond butter. The smell was phenomenal but I do have to say it's a lot less sweeter than other store bought prepackaged butters.

Going to any grocery store it is a must to check out the chocolate selection. There was so may kinds of chocolate available.

I chose this dark chocolate with pear and almond. Can't wait to try it.

We saw fresh raw honey. It's perfect to sweeten my tea. There was also maple syrup and different types of oil.

They have cute bear containers to hold the honey.

There was a chile section and this mis-priced chile was spotted. Haha

They also have this cute bakery section. I loved that macaroons were sold there.

Next stop is Trader Joe's. The plaza is quite beautiful.

The quinoa section because my mom likes to add quinoa to things.

The salad selection was pretty.  I liked how there was many different kinds available.

Going to wholefoods was an experience and I will definitely be going back.

Beginning Summer Updates

(even with an extra shot of expresso this ribbon crunch frap was too sweet for me)

Hi there,

Summer is great time to relax and recoup from the school year. Basically my days are consist of doing a short jog in the morning then working in the evening.

My nails are finally growing all nice and pretty so polish is a must but now the polish is starting to chip again. I thinking of doing a french tip of some sort.

One of the best things coming back home is getting to eat homemade waffles by my mommy. Look at how perfect it is :D

The day after my birthday my sister treated me to lunch. I got this sandwich which had turkey, ham, a and bacon. It was a big portion so I didn't even eat all of it.

The selection of pies <3

I got the banana cream pie which is forever my favorite. Oh so good :)

Went shopping the other day and did a mini Nike haul. I got a new pair of running shoes, a zip up, sweater, and pants.

Have an awesome day :D

XOXO,

M
